Introduction to Music
Fundamental Music
We are pleased to offer a music class designed specifically for younger students with little or no previous musical training, ages 7-9. This engaging and educational course introduces foundational musical concepts in a fun and supportive environment, while also preparing students for future participation in band and orchestra. Through singing, movement, and hands-on experience with small percussion instruments, Orff instruments (child-size xylophones and other barred instruments), and the recorder, students will develop musical skills and gain a basic understanding of music fundamentals.
Elemental Music
Our new class, Elemental Music, is for children ages 8-9 who have previous music training such as piano or violin lessons. This class is also for those who have completed the Fundamental Music class (previously called Intro to Music) but need more experience or aren’t old enough to enter band or orchestra. In our Elemental Music class, students will continue their musical growth while exploring the basic concepts of music at a more advanced level. Students will have fun learning experientially through singing, movement, percussion and Orff instruments, as well as recorder. They can also have the opportunity to try out for groups at the Elementary All State level.
